The frozen food is defrosted inside the enclosed defroster box, where it is protected from light to help minimise vitamin loss. Using the integrated defroster sieve, the food is separated from the thawing water, which can be enriched with nitrate and phosphate. This helps prevent unwanted nutrients from entering the aquarium.

After defrosting, the food can be enriched with essential vitamins and amino acids, such as aminovit, before feeding. The defroster is supplied complete with a box, lid and sieve, making it a convenient and practical accessory for improving feeding quality.
