Brightwell Aquatics Ferrion 500ml
Overview:
Brightwell Aquatics Ferrion is a highly concentrated and stable iron solution designed to support the health and growth of photosynthetic marine organisms, including corals, clams, macroalgae, and other beneficial aquatic plants. This supplement is particularly effective in systems with a refugium or mud filter and is formulated by a marine scientist to ensure optimal performance.
Key Features:
- Highly Concentrated Iron Solution: Provides a potent iron supplement to support the health and growth of photosynthetic organisms in marine aquariums.
- Supports Diverse Marine Life: Ideal for use with hermatypic corals, macroalgae, coralline algae, mangroves, marsh grasses, and other desirable marine algae and plants.
- Effective in Refugiums: Particularly suited for systems with refugiums or mud systems, enhancing water quality and organism health.
- Stronger Than Competitors: More concentrated than many competing products, offering better value and effectiveness.
- Scientifically Formulated: Developed by marine scientists to ensure accurate and effective supplementation.
Technical Background:
Iron is essential for photosynthesis in marine environments. It plays a critical role in the electron transport chain within chloroplasts, which is vital for the health and growth of photosynthetic organisms. In marine aquariums, iron is required by macroalgae, mangroves, marsh grasses, encrusting calcareous algae, and the symbiotic zooxanthellae in corals and clams. A deficiency in iron can limit photosynthesis, growth, and nutrient uptake, impacting overall water quality.
The recommended iron concentration in marine aquariums is between 0.05 to 0.10 ppm. Exceeding this range is not advised, as excessive iron, particularly in the presence of high phosphate levels, can lead to algal blooms. Phosphate levels should be kept as low as possible to prevent unwanted algae growth.
Instructions and Guidelines:
Basic Usage: Shake the bottle well before use. Add 5 ml (1 capful) of Ferrion per 50 US-gallons of aquarium water every other day or as needed to maintain iron concentrations between 0.05 and 0.10 ppm. A 250 ml bottle will treat up to 2,500 US-gallons.
Advanced Usage: Test the iron concentration in your aquarium using an accurate test kit before adding Ferrion. Each ml of Ferrion increases the iron concentration by 1 ppm per gallon. If the initial concentration is below 0.10 ppm, add up to 10 ml per 20 US-gallons daily until the desired concentration is reached. Adjust the dosing rate to maintain a stable iron level, ideally through daily dosing.
Caution:
- Keep out of reach of children. Not for human consumption.
Guaranteed Analysis:
- Iron (Fe) (min): 0.40%
- Chelated Iron: 118 mg/oz.; 4,000 ppm
Ingredients:
- Purified water
- Sodium feredetate
