Ecopond Duckweed Control is formulated to help manage duckweed in garden ponds using a specialist bacterial culture. Duckweed (Lemna minor) is a very common pond plant that can spread rapidly across the water surface, often returning quickly even after it has been removed. This treatment works by reducing nutrients in the pond water that are essential for duckweed growth.

For best results, most of the existing duckweed should first be removed manually. Applying Duckweed Control afterwards helps limit the nutrients that support regrowth, helping to inhibit the return of duckweed over time. The formula is safe for fish, wildlife, and other pond plants when used as directed.

Duckweed Control is best applied in spring as soon as duckweed begins to appear, once pond water temperatures reach at least 8°C to allow effective microbial activity. It can also be used throughout summer and into early autumn while water temperatures remain above 8–10°C. Continued treatment during the season helps prevent the formation of spores that could otherwise contribute to duckweed returning the following spring.

For improved results, Duckweed Control can be used alongside Ecopond Mud Muncher, which helps reduce organic waste that contributes to excess nutrients in the pond.
