Each sponge measures approximately 25 x 25 x 8cm and features a central slit for fitting into compatible BioTec filter systems.

Fine Filter Foam

The Fine Filter Foam is designed to capture smaller particles and suspended debris that may pass through coarser filtration stages.

This helps improve pond water clarity and supports effective mechanical filtration.

Available Quantities: 2 x Fine or 3 x Fine.

Coarse Filter Foam

The Coarse Filter Foam is designed to capture larger dirt particles, fish waste and organic debris.

The open-pore structure allows water to circulate through the foam while trapping larger suspended materials.

Coarse foam also provides a surface for beneficial bacteria to establish.

Available Quantities: 2 x Coarse or 3 x Coarse.

Supports Biological Pond Filtration

The porous foam structure provides surface area for beneficial bacteria to colonise.

These bacteria support the natural pond nitrogen cycle by helping process ammonia and nitrite produced from fish waste and decomposing organic material.

Regular maintenance helps maintain water flow and supports the continued performance of the biological filtration system.

Cleaning & Replacement Instructions:

1. Disconnect the pond filter and associated electrical equipment where required.
2. Open the filter housing according to the manufacturer's instructions.
3. Remove the existing foam sponges.
4. Gently rinse reusable foam using pond water to help preserve beneficial bacteria.
5. Replace sponges that are damaged or heavily worn.
6. Install the replacement foam in the correct position.
7. Reassemble the filter and restart the filtration system.
8. Check that water is circulating correctly through the media.

Important: Avoid replacing all established biological filter media simultaneously, as this may reduce the beneficial bacterial population.
