Effective Aquarium Gravel Cleaning

The Fluval Gravel Vac is designed to remove accumulated waste from aquarium substrates while allowing you to carry out routine water changes.

Fish waste, uneaten food and organic debris can collect between gravel particles and around aquarium decorations.

Regular cleaning helps remove this material before it breaks down and affects aquarium water quality.

Easy-Start Siphon System

The integrated Easy-Start siphon allows you to begin water flow with just a few quick pumps.

This eliminates the need to manually start the siphon by mouth and provides a more convenient cleaning experience.

Once the siphon is operating, aquarium water and suspended debris can be directed into a suitable collection bucket.

Thumb-Operated Flow Control

The convenient flow regulator allows you to adjust water movement during cleaning.

This is particularly useful when working around delicate aquarium decorations or lighter substrates.

Adjusting the flow helps provide greater control over the amount of water being removed.

Extendable Nozzle for Hard-to-Reach Areas

The Fluval Gravel Vac features an extendable cleaning nozzle designed to reach difficult areas within the aquarium.

The Small/Medium version includes a 20cm extension, allowing additional reach when cleaning deeper sections or areas around aquarium decorations.

This helps make regular aquarium maintenance more convenient.

Suitable for Different Aquarium Substrates

The Fluval Gravel Vac can be used with suitable aquarium substrates, including:

• Gravel
• Sand
• Rock-based substrates

When cleaning fine sand, use a reduced flow rate and keep the nozzle slightly above the substrate to minimise unnecessary disturbance.

How to Use the Fluval Gravel Vac

1. Position a suitable collection bucket below the aquarium water level.
2. Secure the outlet hose using the bucket clip where available.
3. Place the cleaning nozzle into the aquarium water.
4. Use the Easy-Start siphon mechanism to begin water flow.
5. Adjust the thumb-operated regulator to control suction.
6. Move the nozzle gently through the gravel to remove trapped debris.
7. Use the extension attachment where required to reach difficult areas.
8. Stop the siphon once the required amount of water has been removed.
9. Replace the removed aquarium water with suitably conditioned water at an appropriate temperature.
