Before application, ensure that the cement render is clean, dry, and porous. Surfaces that have been highly trowelled are not recommended. Newly rendered surfaces should harden for 21-28 days prior to application. If reinforcing fibres are used in the cement render, they must be removed by burning or sanding.

Begin by repairing any cracks and damaged areas. The first coat should be applied with a brush in a thin layer and allowed to dry until fingerprint dry, which typically takes about 60-90 minutes depending on humidity. Subsequent coats should follow the same procedure without exceeding a 4-hour interval between applications. Usually, three coats of G4 standard are sufficient, but a fourth coat may be necessary for particularly porous or rough surfaces. Note that uncured G4 is sensitive to rain, so cover the area if rainfall is expected.

Allow the final coat to harden for 72 hours before washing the surface with clean water. For coloured applications, apply two clear G4 standard coats first, followed by two coats of the coloured variant.

Consumption varies slightly based on porosity. On standard porous cement renders, the average consumption for three coats of G4 standard is 550 g/sq.m. For coloured applications, two clear coats require approximately 410 g/sq.m, while two coloured coats use about 400 g/sq.m.
