Improve your pond filtration system with Japanese Matting Biological Filter Media, a durable and highly effective filtration material designed to support beneficial bacteria and help maintain clean, clear and healthy pond water.

Widely used in koi ponds, garden ponds and professional filtration systems, Japanese Matting provides a large surface area for beneficial bacteria to colonise. Available in convenient packs of 1, 2, 3 or 6 sheets, allowing you to choose the quantity required for your pond filtration setup.

Effective Biological Filtration

Japanese Matting is widely recognised as an effective biological filter media thanks to its strong, open fibrous structure. This provides an extensive surface area for beneficial bacteria to establish and develop.

As pond water passes through the matting, established bacteria help break down harmful waste compounds, supporting a healthier and more stable aquatic environment for koi and other ornamental pond fish.

Ideal for Custom Pond Filtration

The large 2m x 1m sheets are ideal for custom filtration installations, allowing the matting to be cut to the required dimensions for your filter chamber.

Its rigid construction helps the media maintain its shape while allowing pond water to pass through the fibrous structure.
