Aquacadabra K3 Biological Filter Media 2L – Fits Hozelock Ecopower

Improve your pond filtration system with Aquacadabra K3 Biological Filter Media, a durable and effective moving bed filtration media designed to support beneficial bacteria and maintain healthy pond water conditions.

Suitable for compatible Hozelock Ecopower filters and other suitable pond filtration systems, K3 media provides a large surface area for beneficial bacteria to colonise, helping support the biological breakdown of harmful ammonia and nitrite produced by fish waste and decomposing organic matter.

Supplied in an approximately 2 litre pack, this wheel-shaped filter media is ideal for upgrading existing filter chambers, replacing worn media or creating a moving bed biological filtration system.

Key Features:

• Approximately 2 Litres – Convenient quantity of K3 biological filter media
• Moving Bed Filtration – Designed to circulate within suitable aerated filter chambers
• Supports Beneficial Bacteria – Provides a surface for biological filtration bacteria to colonise
• Helps Maintain Water Quality – Supports the biological breakdown of ammonia and nitrite
• Self-Cleaning Action – Movement of the media helps reduce accumulated debris and biofilm build-up
• Larger K3 Media Design – Suitable for retrofitting compatible existing filter bays
• Wheel-Shaped Construction – Designed to encourage water circulation and bacterial colonisation
• Durable Filter Media – Suitable for long-term use in compatible pond filtration systems
• Ideal for Koi Ponds – Suitable for garden ponds, koi ponds and biological filtration applications

Effective Biological Filtration

K3 biological filter media works by providing a suitable surface for beneficial bacteria to establish and develop.

As pond water passes through the filtration chamber, established bacteria help convert harmful ammonia into nitrite and subsequently into less harmful nitrate, supporting a stable biological filtration system.

This makes K3 media a practical choice for pond keepers looking to maintain effective biological filtration.

Moving Bed & Self-Cleaning Design

K3 media is engineered with a wheel-shaped structure and slightly positive buoyancy, allowing it to circulate within a suitable moving bed filter chamber.

Air supplied through an air pump, air stones or diffuser creates movement within the chamber, causing the media to circulate and gently collide.

This continuous movement helps limit excessive waste accumulation and supports a self-cleaning action, reducing the need for regular manual cleaning.

Ideal for Retrofitting Existing Filters

Compared with smaller K1 media, K3 features a larger wheel-shaped design that can make it easier to configure and manage within suitable existing filter bays.

It is particularly useful for pond keepers looking to upgrade or adapt their existing biological filtration system.

Always ensure the filter chamber is suitable for moving bed media and that the media cannot escape through the filter outlets.
