UV lamps gradually lose their effective ultraviolet output during use, even when the bulb still appears to be illuminated. Regular replacement helps maintain effective UV performance and supports clearer pond water and efficient green water algae control.

For best performance, UV bulbs are generally replaced every 6–12 months. Replacing the lamp at the beginning of spring is a convenient way to prepare your pond filtration system for the main pond season.

Choosing the Correct UV Bulb

Please check your existing bulb carefully before ordering. UV bulbs that look similar can have different wattages, lengths and pin configurations.

Before purchasing, check:

• Bulb wattage
• Overall bulb length
• Number of pins
• Position of the pins
• PLS, PLL or classic straight UV fitting
• Your UV clarifier manufacturer's specifications
